Melissa--I think you'll find that having an 'eye' for photography is something that can be learned. What I've found over the past couple of years is that learning photography goes in steps and stages. The first is learning to use your camera. Once you are comfortable with that you can then focus (no pun intended) on learning things like composition, lighting and creative exposure settings. As your progress though each 'stage' you'll find yourself getting better and better at 'seeing' what makes a good photo and your photography will just get better and better. Enjoy your photography class--it's a really fun hobby!

Great photos! You are inspiring me to take a photography class to better understand how to use my camera. I know that the "eye" for photography can't really be taught--it is a talent that one has or doesn't--but with some basic technical knowledge I know I could improve my photographs.

Tell Zoey she can just change her breed name in homage to her hero, Zelda. She can be a Border Corgi or a Shorter Collie.
